Founded in 1929 by the Chambre Syndicale des Négociants in Diamonds, Pearls, gemstones and Lapidaries, it now belongs to the Chambre Syndicale de l'Union Française de la Bijouterie, Joaillerie, Orfèvrerie, Pierres et Perles.

Since its creation, the LFG has been analysing gems to identify them (natural, synthetic or treated) and also to determine their origin with a view to ensuring transparency for the final consumer.
Equipped with cutting-edge instruments and working in the field of scientific research, the LFG is the only laboratory in France accredited for gem analysis.
