“Boucle” Bracelet Van Cleef & Arpels

In September, Sotheby’s entrusted us for the analysis of this ‘Boucle’ bracelet signed Van Cleef and Arpels in 1968. A jewel with generous lines and sculptural volumes, reminiscent of the ‘jarretière’ bracelet ordered by the Duke of Windsor for his spouse, the Duchess Wallis Simpson (Bibliographie :  Sylvie Raulet, Van Cleef & Arpels, Paris, 1986, p.189).

Forming a stylized buckle set with a row of faceted sapphires and framed by brilliant-cut diamonds, the bracelet is made of platinum and 18k gold.

Our expert gemologists have certified the naturality of the 112 diamonds and for the 35 sapphires, their:

  • Origin:  Myanmar (Burma), Sri Lanka (Ceylon) and Thailand/Cambodia
  • Treatment: no indication of thermal enhancement
  • Estimated mass: 44.08 carats approx.

The bracelet was adjudicated by Sotheby’s auction house on October 10, 2024.

Net result: €240 000
