On 3 July, the LFG held its 30th Conference on the theme of ‘Inclusion photomicrography: a journey where science meets art’, led by Marine Bouvier, expert gemmologist and photomicrographer, who highlighted the importance of inclusions in gem identification through the three areas of study of photomicrography: scientific, technical and artistic.
Aurélien Delaunay, Director of the LFG, also presented the latest gemmological news and events at this 30th edition of the show, including our participation in the Salon “Jardins de pierres, pierres de jardin” which took place in Matignon and the Mineral & Gem Show in June.
The latest acquisitions of gems and equipment by the LFG and its training department were also presented:
Finally, the LFG Conference ended with the presentation of prizes to the three winners of the first photomicrography competition organised by the Laboratoire Français de Gemmologie. The competition, which was judged by Annabelle Herreweghe, Dominique Dufermont and Marine Bouvier, gave the students in the current intake of the CQP ‘Managing gem activities in companies’ the opportunity to showcase their talent by exploring the world of the infinitely small.
We would like to extend our warmest thanks to everyone who took part in the conference, and hope that the presentations provided a wealth of scientific and artistic insights.
We look forward to seeing you at the CIBJO Congress in Paris in October and at the next LFG conference.
